Biogel (EZ Gel) in Rapid City, SD
At LiveWell Medical Aesthetics in Rapid City, SD, Biogel; also called EZ Gel; is an all-natural autologous bio-filler made entirely from your own blood. Unlike synthetic hyaluronic acid fillers, Biogel contains no additives, no artificial gels, and no foreign substances. Your blood is drawn, processed to isolate albumin and growth factors, then thermally treated to form a smooth, injectable gel that the body recognizes as its own tissue.
Biogel is performed by Courtney Vesely, FNP-C, MSN, RN, and our licensed team. It acts as both an immediate volumizer and a biostimulator; providing visible fullness while also triggering your body’s natural collagen and tissue regeneration response. For patients who want filler-like results without synthetic materials, Biogel is often the right choice. It can also be combined with PRP and PRF or microneedling for a comprehensive regenerative protocol.
What Is Biogel (EZ Gel)?
EZ Gel is a proprietary autologous bio-filler developed by ezGEL. It is created through a specific blood processing technique: a small sample of your blood is drawn and placed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma. The plasma is then subjected to a precise heating and cooling cycle; a thermal process that causes the naturally occurring albumin proteins in your plasma to polymerize, forming a stable, gel-like matrix. This matrix is then loaded with the growth factors, platelets, and bioactive molecules also present in your plasma and re-injected as a smooth, cohesive filler.
The result is a filler that behaves like a hyaluronic acid gel in terms of its volumizing effect but is made entirely from your own biology. Because it is 100% autologous; derived from your own blood; there is zero risk of allergic reaction or immune rejection. The growth factors embedded in the gel also make it biostimulatory: over time, it triggers collagen production and tissue regeneration in the treated area rather than simply sitting passively like a synthetic filler.
Biogel vs. Traditional Dermal Fillers
The most common question before a Biogel consultation is how it compares to hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm and Restylane. The two approaches share some goals but work very differently:
Material. Hyaluronic acid fillers use a synthetic gel derived from bacterial fermentation. Biogel is made entirely from your own blood plasma. No synthetic materials are introduced.
Allergy risk. HA fillers carry a small risk of allergic reaction or hypersensitivity. Biogel carries zero allergy risk because the material is autologous.
Mechanism. HA fillers add volume passively. Biogel adds volume and also stimulates collagen production and tissue regeneration through its growth factor content, producing a longer-term improvement beyond the initial volumizing effect.
Reversibility. HA fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. Biogel cannot; it is gradually metabolized by the body over time. This makes candidacy assessment at the consultation especially important.
Duration. HA fillers typically last 9 to 18 months depending on the product and area. Biogel results vary by patient; the biostimulatory collagen response can extend the visual result beyond what the filler itself provides.
Biogel is not a replacement for HA fillers in every situation. Patients who want a specific filler product for a highly targeted correction, or who want the option of reversal, may be better suited to a traditional filler. Your provider will discuss which approach is right for your goals. See our dermal fillers page for more on traditional filler options at LiveWell.
Where Biogel Can Be Used
Biogel can be applied in most areas where traditional fillers are used, with particular strength in areas where biostimulation (collagen regeneration) is as valuable as immediate volumization:
- Under-eye hollows (tear trough). One of the most popular applications. The growth factors in Biogel improve the thin skin quality in this area over time, in addition to restoring volume.
- Cheeks and mid-face. Volume restoration with the added collagen-stimulating effect of the growth factors in the gel matrix.
- Nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Smoothing deep folds with a natural material for patients who prefer to avoid synthetic fillers.
- Jawline and chin. Structural support and definition in the lower face.
- Hands. Volume restoration on the backs of the hands, reducing the visibility of tendons and veins that become more prominent with age.
Your provider will assess your specific anatomy at your consultation and recommend the areas and volume most appropriate for your goals.
What to Expect
During the procedure, a small amount of blood is drawn and processed to isolate the plasma and growth factors. This is then heated and cooled to create a smooth, gel-like consistency, which is injected into targeted areas for a natural plumping and revitalizing effect. The treatment is minimally invasive, with little to no downtime, allowing patients to return to their daily activities quickly. Initial results, such as improved hydration and plumpness, are visible within days, while long-term collagen stimulation continues over weeks to months, providing a gradual and natural-looking enhancement. Mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur but typically resolves within a few days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Biogel, also called EZ Gel, is an autologous bio-filler made from your own blood. A small blood draw is processed in a centrifuge to separate the plasma, which is then thermally treated to form a smooth, gel-like consistency. The resulting gel contains albumin, growth factors, and platelets from your own blood and is injected into the face or hands to restore volume and stimulate collagen production. Because it is made entirely from your own biology, there is zero risk of allergic reaction.
Traditional dermal fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero) use a synthetic hyaluronic acid gel. Biogel is made entirely from your own plasma; no synthetic materials are introduced. This makes Biogel suitable for patients who prefer an all-natural option or who want to avoid synthetic filler materials for any reason. The main trade-off is that Biogel cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase the way HA fillers can, so candidacy discussion at the consultation is important.
PRP and PRF are liquid or near-liquid blood concentrates injected to stimulate healing and collagen production. Biogel is processed through a thermal treatment that causes the plasma proteins to form a stable gel. This gel consistency is what gives Biogel its volumizing, filler-like effect; something PRP and PRF cannot provide on their own. Biogel contains growth factors from the blood (similar to PRF) but adds the structural albumin gel matrix that creates immediate volume.
No. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Biogel cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase. It is gradually metabolized by the body over time as it would naturally break down autologous tissue. This makes thorough candidacy assessment and expectation-setting at the consultation especially important. If you want the option of reversal, a hyaluronic acid filler is the more appropriate choice.
Results vary by patient, treatment area, and individual metabolism. The initial volumizing effect from the gel itself typically lasts several months. The biostimulatory effect; collagen production triggered by the growth factors; can extend the visible result beyond what the gel alone provides. Your provider will discuss realistic expectations at your consultation based on your specific anatomy and goals.
Good candidates are patients who want facial volumization or under-eye improvement using only natural, autologous materials and who understand that the treatment cannot be dissolved if results are not as expected. Patients with concerns about synthetic fillers, allergies to filler components, or a preference for regenerative approaches are often a strong fit. Your provider will confirm candidacy at your consultation.
Biogel pricing is provided at your consultation after your provider assesses your goals and the areas to be treated.
